When I try to type in a number for the paragraph spacing it bugs and inputs a load of random numbers and symbols. I can not manually input a number and must select from the predefined options.

Can you give us more information?  Have you used Free Transform to change the text? If not, what OS are you on and did you delete your preferences when you updated, or migrate them?

I'm on a Mac running El Capitan and I have no difficulty entering custom leading. But I haven't used Transform to resize the text with the bounding box which has a known bug. If you do that, you will have problems.

Same problem here. I am unable to set The leading manually. If I type 33pt it changes it some gibberish text. Same if you try do drag horizontally left and right. Only Things that works is the predefined numbers in the drop down list. I am on a Mac, newest OS.

I know what is causing the issue now.
It only seems to happen if you resize the text box using the Move tool.
If you have resized it using the Move tool then the leading bugs and you can't type a number in to it manually. The only way to stop this is to delete the text box entirely and create a new text box.
Don't resize it using the Move tool otherwise it will bug again.
