Unable to change Lightroom back to v8.4.1 after trying to update to v9

I tried updating Lightroom to version 9, but I didn't want to create a new catalog, so I tried to revert it back to version 8.4.1. Unfortunately, in the Creative Cloud Desktop app the only older version it lists is 8.2.1, so that's what my Lightroom is at right now. How can I restore it to 8.4.1?

FWIW, the Catalog upgrade creates a new copy of your catalog, so your existing catalog remains intact.

that's odd.  The Creative Cloud app (windows/10) doesn't show any of the 8.4 versions in the "other versions" window.   I'm currently running 8.3 (never installed 8.4 or 8.4.1).  I wonder if the Creative Cloud app only shows versions up to the one you have installed plus the current version - which in my case would explain not seeing 8.4 or 8.4.1 - but would seem to be an odd way to do things.

What are other folks seeing?

YES,  As of this morning both 8.4 and 8.4.1 have been added to the list of prior versions available to install

Note: You may need to do a CTRL+ALT+R to reload the app (if you don't see it)

Does the install of 9.0 overwrite the currently installed 8.x version or does it install side by side allowing one to flip back and forth (with different catalogs of course)?

Lightroom Classic 9.0 will overwrite currently installed version.

It installs as 'Lightroom Classic' (no version number) so no, you cannot run them side by side, unless you manually rename one before installing the other. As they also use the same preferences it would be a hassle, because they would both want to load the same catalog. You would have to set the preferences to always ask which one to use.
