Hi,
For the past week I've been unable to back up my catalog in LR 5.7. I run Windows 7 and have recent deleted all catalog back ups, except for the past two times I used LR.

Regards Al.

What happens when you try?
Error Message?
Crash?
Nothing?

I get an error message saying "Unable to back up catalog". It gives me the option of try again, back up to a different folder or cancel. I've tried creating a new folder and backing up there but it comes up with the same error message. Each time the progress bar goes to about 75% before the error message comes up.

Sounds like a permission error. Do you have read/write permissions on that folder you are attempting to use?

Hi Rikk,
I've changed the permissions in the folder, but it still only gets to 'Optimise catalog', then says it can't back up.

Storage Space available?
Does it work to a different folder?

I'm backing up to the working hdd (not the SSD I run Windows on). The working HDD was new at the start of the year and has 2.25TB free, so storage shouldn't be the problem. I've tried a new folder on the same HDD, but still gety the same problem.

Not really, as it's only 120GB, and doesn't have much space left on it. I could try on an external drive?

This is just to test. Can you do it once?

Just tried backing up to the SSD, but that failed as well.

Thanks for testing that, Al. That tells me something.

Do you have the exact wording of the error message?

If you've verified Full Access on the drives via Windows then the only thing I can recommend at this point is a preference file reset. http://www.lightroomforums.net/showth...
