Un-installing CS4 causes major problems for CS6

I recently un-installed CS4 (currently using CS6 Extended) The uninstall immediately caused issues with CS6 apps. One prompt warned that files from the application support folder were missing & that I should re-install Photoshop. I was also informed that my trial period on various CS6 apps would soon expire. (I was already running a fully paid, installed, registered CS6 suite) Entering the requested info did nothing. Adobe tech advised that I should re-install the entire creative suite. I exported color settings, workspace settings, brushes etc. so I would not have to reconfigure all after re-install. I also ran the cleaner app, but was surprised to see application folder for CS4, CS5, and CS6 in my apps folder after using uninstallers and cleaner app.

Re-installing CS6 has been time consuming. I'm still waiting for the updates to be completed (and I have a very fast high speed connection)

I ran the import settings procedure, but the brushes were not imported properly. I may have erred when exporting from the old version, but I still found the process to be relatively complex & unintuitive.

Prior to my uninstall of CS4, I had NO ISSUES with CS6. Now I have spent hours reinstalling, all due to errors in the uninstall of CS4. I really think this process should be simpler. I found important instructions scattered in various places, and the uninstall/reinstall procedures to be complex & un-intuitive. I'm an experienced Adobe user. I can't imagine what would have happened to an inexperienced user.
