PHOTOSHOP CC 2014: type displaying different for separate layers of type when should be the same

Photoshop CC and CC 2014 are having issues with type display. When I create one layer of type it looks one way and when I copy that text or create a new text layer the type looks different, when in fact they are the same font, size, everything and should be the same.
I have tried rebooting, closing files, etc.
Here are screenshots of what is going on, you can tell just by eye that the two fonts look different.
My other coworkers are experiencing this as well, we are currently all using CC 2014.

Hi Melissa,

This seems rather odd. I take it that the top screenshot is CC and the bottom CC 2014? What OS are you running?

Each layer contains just a single line of text, correct?

I'm available today to do a screenshare with in order to get to the bottom of your problem. All you need is an internet connection and a phone.

Thanks,
David

These are both CC 2014 in the same document, each is showing the separate layers selected. I am running OSX 10.9.3.

I have a hunch it may have something to do with the new MAC LCD text display option in the character palette. It is great to use when it works, but I have not had problems in the past when using the other display options.

The MAC LCD option has been in for several releases now. But, to follow your hunch, you can test what things look like with Crisp or Strong or Smooth.

Also, again, is there just a single line of text per layer?

Yes this is a single line of type per layer. I would prefer to use the MAC LCD option if it would cooperate, as most of the time I am designing for web. I am available for screen share if that will help.

You will need to respond to my emails in order to set up a screenshare.

Thanks,
