PHOTOSHOP - Type Tool minor refinement to minimize unintended type layer creation

It would be nice if when you click on text to edit it with the Type tool, and if you don't hit exactly on the hidden hot spot you need to target to select it, that you could click out of it somehow without a new type layer being created.

Right now, if you miss the invisible target (baseline?) my process is to have to go to history an delete the newly created layer. It would be nice that if nothing was keystroked before something else is clicked, the layer would not happen. This happens a lot when you're working with a lot of text and wastes a lot of time.

Some sort of better feedback like you are about to click on text might help as well. For instance, a slight glow or underline such as a Web hover effect that lets you know if you click now you're going to get text selected -- unlike now where the only feedback you get is the underline after you've already clicked on the text.
