This conversation has been merged. Please reference the main conversation: Photoshop 21.1: Files with fonts/type in them keeps crashing

Photoshop 20.1.0 on Mac Catalina 10.15.3

Since today, if I click on the Type Tool, or open the Character tab, after a few moments, Photoshop quits unexpectedly.

I have been through all of my fonts and removed any with any problems - no difference. And I've removed any fonts installed in the last few days - no difference.

Any ideas?

Howdy Morgan,

Not good.  Have you tried completely trashing both the Photoshop and the System font caches?  You can find details here: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/troubleshoot-fonts-photoshop.html.  If THAT fails, uh, ping me here...

Thanks,
David

Hi. Thanks for the help so far. Unfortunately trashing those caches hasn't fixed the problem. And when doing the font-troublesooting tests PS 2020 appears to work, but then after a little more use (e.g. removing the background of a photo) it crashes again, and on the next attempt it crashes immediately.

PS 2019 works fine btw, just not 2020, and I really am missing the new features, so any more help that you can give would be appreciated

Hi Morgan,

Are you submitting crash reports when this happens?  Same email address?  Feel free to put in something like "this is the bug I'm working with David Mohr on" to make sure the crash log comes my way.

Thanks,
David
