The Explanation is easy: DNG mode is used by professionals and professionals never use camera flash. ;-)

Hello,
Thanks for the reply.  I don't know if you're just kidding with your response but nothing could be further from the truth.  However adobe is probably using some idea like that as an excuse.  But THEY pushed the hell out of the importance their DNG functionality as a major selling point for their mobile system and included the flash in that early on.  Then they disabled it claiming some technical problem and have never addressed it again.

It is adobe laziness.  They are FAMOUS for it.  Even Steve Jobs openly criticized them for it.  Anyway, all anybody can do is complain but adobe couldn't care less about it's customers so nothing ever happens. They own the digital photography world (so far) so they can do, or not do, anything they want.  If anyone has the slightest question about that, all they have to do is sample adobe's "customer service" system.  It is incompetence on an unimaginable scale.  And they couldn't care less.  And they never do a thing about that either.

Update: Sorry, below answer is the reply for your other request, the Red Eye Removal Tool, but it is linked.
Using a flash directly located next to the camera lens will increase the risk for red eyes. I have stopped using the in-build flash and with modern smartphones a flash is no longer needed, at least in most cases. Yes, there are situations you need more light and you cannot use the modern night mode, then it is best to use such little portable LED lights with adjustable Kelvin Temperatur.
If you have a newer iPhone with deep mask range you could try the FOCOS camera app, you can use flash and great tools like adjusting focus point and camera lens aperture before and AFTER the shot. It is much better than the LR camera.

Hi Russ, I agree with you, there are many things which should be there in first place, like Picture and Metadata Sync from LR Classic to LR Mobile and back.
Watermark with an image is another example, currently we have only Text watermark.
Red Eye removal is a difficult example because I am not happy with the implementation they have done in Photoshop Elements 2020 and earlier. Fortunately I do not need it for my own pictures, because I am using external flash instead the inbuild camera flash. I guess Adobe knows that their current red eye removal method is bad, could be there is no good automated method at all. With red eyes you look like a devil and with red eye removal tool you look like a zombie.
Best is to avoid it or correct it manually with Selection Tool and the normal sliders.
But could be Adobe is surprising us and is implementing a real good working red eye removal tool.

:-)
Have a great sunny day without the need of flash
Peter
