Would it be possible in future versions of Photoshop to have transparency on spot channels? If the CMYK layers are transparent the files looks transparent even if it has spots, but when we use those files in ESKO we have problems.

The transparent edge of the spot color is less transparent then if we had that spot color in a transparent CMYK file and then had Esko operator plane map the color to the proper spot.

Spot channels can't have transparency, all they can have is an amount of ink applied, plus the color and translucency of the ink being used.

If you don't put a spot color in an area, then there is nothing to print.

It sounds like the problem is with your ESKO product reading or interpreting files incorrectly.
