Photoshop: Transform Controls Disappear

After I have been working in this file for some time, the bounding box and transform controls on the layer cease to show up when I select the move tool.

I have the move tool selected and show transform controls checked. If I move to another open file then I see the transform controls. Also if I close and reopen the file then the controls show up again.

Which OS?

Have you updated your video card drivers?

Have you tried disabling OpenGL drawing in Photoshop's preferences?

OSX Lion

Have not tried updating video card drivers. I will try disabling the openGL drawing the next time it happens. It is weird because it has happened more than once, but I usually just reopen the file and continue on working.

i think you might be hit ctrl + h (or its corresponds on apple) accidentally. sometimes i hit that combination while i want to hit ctrl + g or ctrl + f. Try to hit ctrl + h again.

That's a good suggestion. Cmd + H would hide the handles.

Hmm, that is an idea, I do use Cmd H but did not know it hides the transform handles

I think that might be the answer. Your card should be supported, so I don't think that's it.

I had the same thing after I changed the desktop background to gray 128, the transform guides were also 128... simple to fix change the transform guides to another colour or change background colour to default... good luck

Do you have a screen shot of what you're seeing? Is it possible you just have "Show Transform Controls" turned on? Or View > Show > Layer Edges enabled?
