Photoshop: Toolbar Issues

While I'm grated for the latest patch that corrects the annoying alt + backspace problems and leading issues, I'd love to see a patch that allowed me to go back to a default toolbox. I loathe the idea of setting up a new custom toolbar when my old one has worked for my production needs. If nothing else, it would be nice if the shortcuts worked. For example, I use the clone stamp tool on a regular basis but the shortcut no longer works making the update counter productive. I would like to have a go back options (set to old default) or see the tools grouped with like tools with drop down within each section. I don't have time to reset things every time Adobe decides to play around - especially when it has worked for over 20 years. S for stamp is one of the most common shorcuts ever used so why is that not available?!

Howdy Julie,

Maybe I don't quite follow your request.  Do you know that all the tools in the Toolbox are fully customizable, both in terms of shortcut AND grouping/order?  Go to Edit > Toolbars.

Further, these customizations you make should automatically be moved from one version of Photoshop to the next.

S is the default shortcut for the Clone Stamp tool and the Pattern Stamp tool.  Are you not seeing this?  Which version of Photoshop are you running?

Thanks,
David

The request is that they leave well enough alone. I don't want to have to take time to customize what worked perfectly fine before an update...or at least offer multiple toolbox options. I'm in Photoshop CC - the latest version and just updated 2 days ago. That patch fixed the leading problems and alt + backspace and I was hoping there would be a resolution to the toolbox and the shortcuts not working. "S" has always generated the clone stamp tool but no longer works - I've used it for over 20 years without issue until the latest toolbox changes. All other shortcuts work but since the clone stamp is in the ... area it won't work. Again, I know I can customize it but the issue is I shouldn't have to.

Sounds like something got messed up. You can reset the toolbar to it's default:
  1. Go to Edit > Toolbar...
  2. Click the (Restore Defaults) button.

Does everything work as expected?

Would it be too forward if I said I LOVE YOU!? I had to shutdown Photoshop and reopen but YES, shortcut for the clone stamp tool now works properly again and my toolbar looks correct. Feel silly actually that I didn't click that restore defaults  - think I was too frustrated (and too busy working) to take the time to investige it further. Seriously, can't say thank you enough for your help!
