Photoshop: Tool Presets to Brush Presets update - Saved Brushes Won't Retain Scattering Preset

It used to be until recently that you could only save a brush as a tool preset. This worked perfectly, as it saved all the characteristics and settings that you selected in the Brush Settings options panel.

Recently an update recommended using the new brush presets system instead, claiming it was the same as tool presets but with more options. This has been true, except that there is a really annoying problem now.

When I use a brush with Scattering enabled, the next brush I use will have it enabled as well, even if it's a preset brush that was saved with Scattering disabled. The opposite is true; when I select a brush that was saved with Scattering enabled, it will be disabled if the last used brush had it disabled.

I paint development site plans in Psd for a living so I use multiple saved brushes every day, and it is frustrating to constantly find the Scatter setting enabled or disabled, causing the brushes to jump around randomly when you don't expect it, or not scatter at all when you need it to.

Adobe please fix this,
On behalf of designers everywhere.

Thanks so much

Hi Clark. This sounds like a symptom of having the "Lock" enabled for the Scattering setting.

Please check if it is locked and click it to unlock if so, then let us know if that solves the problem. The locks, when active, basically say "don't change these settings when applying a Tool Preset or Brush Preset".

If that didn't do the trick, then let me know if you're observing the same behavior with Tool Presets.
