Tone values with Diffused Glow filter reversed

Okay, I'll try and explain my problem. Running Photoshop CC, Early 2008 Mac Pro 3,1 OS 10.9.1. Just installed new video card, Nvidia Quatro 4000. When I choose filters specifically Diffuse Glow and the image is brought up in the filters window, the tone values in the image are reversed. Whites are rendered as blacks or grays. I've noticed also in some of the other filters IE say Charcoal that when the filter is selected the image tone values are reversed??? I tried the same filter in CS4 and it worked as it should. CS5 & CC are corrupted somehow? Anyone have a similar situation?

Many of the Filter Gallery filters use the foreground and background colors for their effects. If you have those colors reversed, then the filter effect will be reversed. If you have the colors set to something odd, then the filter effects will be rendered with those odd colors.

Hi Chris!

Yes I answered my own question after my post. I hadn't realized the connection between the foreground/background color selection in relation to some of the filters.
I figured it was some kind of setting all along but just couldn't put my finger on it! The tip off for me should have been that only certain filters were affected!

Thanks for the reply!
