Photoshop: Toggle Pasteboard - the ability to draw off the 'canvas' as in other apps like Flash, Illustrator, etc

Would love the ability to draw off the 'canvas' as in other apps like Flash, Illustrator, etc, and then the ability to view what's bleeding off the edges, or toggle it to be hidden.

so create a canvas larger than what you need and put a mask on top.

Yeah...that's been the workaround so far. It's just irritating to go back into a file and have all these extra steps to do what other apps seem to do so effortlessly. Hoping that would make for a great new feature in Photoshop.

I would also like the ability to have a pasteboard as well, which I basically think of as an area around the document that's still in the same window. It gets frustrating when I'm panning the image over to work on the edge of a document but can't because the edge of my document won't "let go" of the edge of the window it's contained in. Things get really awkward when I'm doing a paint operation near the edge of a window. Go too far and the tool turns off or I select the window behind. 

Shouldn't be a big deal, After Effects and Illustrator have had this for years. Adobe, can you please add this?
