Photoshop: Tiff opens incorrectly in other applications

I've been working on a project in PSE 9.0. The final step is flattening the image and saving as tiff. The current image I am working on- when I open it in any program other than PSE, only the top left corner displays (which happens to be one of the layers prior to flattening the image). In PSE, the entire image displays.

I've created very similar images in PSE in the past few weeks and had no problems with this last step. I've re-saved other images as TIFF and have no issue. Further, if I save the current image in JPEG it opens correctly elsewhere. What gives?! Thanks.

The image I've attached is the .jpeg on the left and the .tif on the right.

IF that's Apple's Preview, then you may have an alpha channel or mask in the TIFF that Apple's code renders incorrectly (it's an old, known bug in Apple's TIFF code).

Hmm. Ok. Other tiffs I've created in PSE open in preview. I also opened it in the other 2 photo editing/viewing software I have and it looks the same. (Small portion of the image).

Did Apple put out a fix for the preview issue?

Thanks for the reply Chris.

No, we haven't heard from Apple about this TIFF reading issue in quite some time, and it does not seem to be solved yet.

Open the TIFF in Photoshop and check for an alpha channel that might be confusing Apple's TIFF code.

Thanks for all the help! Finally figured out how to get rid of the alpha channel in PSE and all works well now.
