Since upgrading from CS5 to CS6, when saving a file as TIFF, the TIFF options panel does not allow for NO layer compression. If I save using layer compression, I am not able to subsequently open in raw.

The TIFF compression options are identical in CS5 and CS6.

But ACR doesn't read layers and doesn't care about layer compression at all.

Thank you. My CS5 panel does not have the Layer Compression boxes in bold so there was never any choice. Either way, my main problem is that after saving as a TIFF I am not able to reopen in RAW. The selection doesn't come up. I thought maybe the layer compression had something to do with it. Since it doesn't, what could be the problem?

That would be because your document has no layers. Those options are disabled if the document has no layers.

Do you mean in ACR/Camera Raw? (any file can be opened as RAW, but ACR can be picky about camera raw files)

Yes, ACR. I cannot get any document that was previously edited and saved to open again in ACR. Never had any problems with CS5.
