Thumbnails no longer showing up in Lightroom.  This happened immediately after today's Creative Cloud update

Operating system? You've tried rebooting?

Yes, several times, including turning off and leaving it unplugged for several minutes.
Another point:  the preview images still exist.  If I try to generate new ones, I get a message that they are already there,

And another problem:  I can't import new pictures.  The dialogue comes up, and I can set all the parameters properly, but the "Import" button is not active, and in the lower left is a busy icon spinning around.  It never stops.

Since then I've installed the 2017 Creative Clouds apps. Photoshop was OK, but not Lightroom.  When I download that, I get an error about the 35% mark (Installing) and the only error message is "Exit Code: 15", followed by "ERROR: Media DB Error : 11".   Nothing  helpful at all.  I have tried to install it several times, doing a cold boot before each.  The last one, this morning, was done after cleaning out all Lightroom files, and all entries in the registry.

I have successfully installed it on m Mac, but that makes for an awkward work flow.

What is going on here?  I've never had this much trouble with any Adobe product.
