Photoshop: Too difficult for the level of editing I want to do

Today I downloaded the trial version of Photoshop 2015 CC. I have spent the entire day attempting to do what should be very simple things. I can't put a simple border around a photo. Neither can I add text to a photo. This is the main thing I want a photo editing program for. Isn't there a simpler program?

Yes, Photoshop Elements is simpler, or some of the tablet/phone applications are simpler still.

Learning Photoshop takes a while - because there are many tools and possibilities.
But adding borders and text are rather simple operations for Photoshop.

You might want to search the web for tutorials on different ways to accomplish what you are trying to do.

Chris is completely correct.

If you want a more elementary version of Photoshop, I would definitely suggest Photoshop Elements.

Now, if you just wanna add some text, then do this:

1) click the T-tool in the Toolbox on the left side of the screen or simply press the letter T
2) click where you want your text to begin in the document -- a line will appear and everything you type will appear on it
3) you can add carriage returns via the <Enter> key
4) when you're done adding text, complete it using either the <Enter> key from the keypad or press the checkbox in the Options Bar, near the top of your display (just to the left of the 3D icon)
5) if you want to move your text, click the Move tool (looks like four arrows going in different directions -- it's the top-most tool in the Toolbox on the left side of the screen) and then just click and drag your text to the new position

Hope that helps,
Thanks,
David

Thanks. This was most helpful. I still may consider another program such as the one you suggested.
