Photoshop CS6: There was an error opening your printer. (driver problem)

Am running CS6 under Win7. My printer is installed and works properly with applications other than PS. When I try to print from PS, I get the error window "There was an error opening your printer. Printing functions will not be available until you have selected a printer and reopened any documents".

Two links on the web related to this error sugest to delete the Prefs file (Ctrl+Alt+Shift) just after launching PS. I did it several times, but to no effect. C6 has the latest updates, I have rebooted my PC several times.

Any helpful suggestions?

I'm having the same problem in Photoshop CC and ONLY in Photoshop. I have no issues in Illustrator, InDesign or Acrobat.

UPDATE: I did find a workaround, however removing printers and re-installing drivers DID NOT HELP. I was able to bypass the issue by selecting a different printer as my default printer in my control panel. After that I can select my desired printer within Photoshop.
