Lightroom: The Long and Short of Exporting

Has anyone got a fix for the failure of Lightroom to export to a given long edge dimension? I have just upgraded to 5.7 and it still persists. Basically set a landscape to export 2000px on the long edge - end up with one that is 2000px high and 2400px (or whatever) wide.

So, set a landsape to export 2000px on the short edge - end up with one that is 2000px high and 2400px (or whatever) wide (the same). People have been talking about this for years, there must be a solution?

And yes with me it happens whether or not the 'don't enlarge' box is checked.

This is different than the problem which haunted Lr up through 5.2 (I *think* it was mostly but not completely fixed in Lr5.3, or maybe it was a later version). The previous problem was exporting at 2000 and getting 1999, for example - correct edge but a notch short. The current problem sounds like it's not properly determining which edge is short vs. long.

Do you have a similar problem if you constrain both width and height? (i.e. it constrains height as width or vice versa).

Does it happen with all images, or only those that have been... (finish sentence if applicable).

Hi Rob,

Yes at some point my LR export seemed to have pst the ability to determine which edge is short vs. long.

Yesterday I tried setting up a new export preset and (fingers crossed) this is doing what I want. I am currently processing a number of images which I will try and do multiple exports after creating new presets and will report back.

Thanks for your reply.
