Photoshop: The cursor is driving me nuts. I wish it would just stay a white circle.

I'll be erasing a fine edge, 4 or 7 pixels, and the cursor changes to black so I can't see what I'm doing.  Is there a way to make it stay a white circle?  I'm in Photoshop CC 20.0.6 and Mac OS Mojave 10.14.6, both update as updates become available.

Howdy Carson,

What sort of problem are you running into?  What do you have set for your Painting Cursor under Preferences > Cursors?

Thanks,
David

It's that I'm going along, the white circle cursor while erasing an edge shows well for me, and then it switches to black and I can't see it at all. Here are the choices from preferences>cursors, there's no option to keep it white.

and despite all these color options, the erasing cursor is always a white or a black circle.

AndI've made a recording showing the 9 pt cursor disappearing at the edge.  The light part is the layer I'm erasing a few pixels from the edge.  It's a mov file and too big to upload.

Now I've reduced the size but you can't upload an MP4.

THe first 2/3 you can't see the cursor, it's there.  The remainder you kind of can.

I just looked in preferences.  No such option.

Are you hitting your NUMB LOCK key at any point during this process?

No; it's an apple keyboard, I don't see num lock.  What would it do?

I find that I put on the caps lock key, the cursor changes from an invisible circle to a white and black cross mark which, as it has both black and white, is visible against any background.  It doesn't give a hint of where the erasing edge is going to be though.

I've also come up with a test you'd be able to reproduce:  make a new document, make a new layer, fill with 50% gray.  The cursor for eraser is just about invisible.

Is there a way to make the cursor for the eraser a white circle?
