The cloud is neat, but it is not for everyone. Large numbers of photos make it a silly alternative to everyone but Adobe. Google stores them for free!

That's why I use Lightroom Classic. Perhaps you should too.

I do use classic, but they are working very hard to make it difficult to go from mobile to classic.

Nothing has changed in this respect. Lightroom CC for Mac/Windows has been added, but everything else has remained the same. You can still go from mobile to classic like you could from mobile to LrCC2015.

Not entirely true. If image < 2048px then it's free, else $$$

Very true, and that would be a serious limitation.
And with the cloud in general, do they expect us to upload 50,000++ files 20-30MB?

The cloud is unreasonable for photographers trying to get started. How does Adobe expect students and beginners to pay for storage for multiple TBs AND CC? They've created an amateur-looking software in Lightroom CC 2018 yet made it increasingly inaccessible for amateurs.
