Ok, other users aren't having problems with this that we know of.

Have you installed all the Photoshop updates?
Are you using CC or CC 2014?
What OS version are you using?
Does this happen with all layers, or just some?

Yes, I have installed all updates on PS CC. I am using the latest OS Windows version. Yes, it is happening on all layers.

Hmm, that's weird. I'd love to know what made it not work/show....

Me too, the boundary box will not outline images. However, the check mark is revealed on "Show Transform Controls" 1st time this has ever happened.

Hiya Sylvia,

If this problem ever returns, please let us know on this thread, ok?  I would like to figure out the cause of this so we can make sure it doesn't happen to anyone else.

Thanks,
David

Thank you David! I use Adobe every day, and I was perplexed, why the handles didn't show. So ultimately, I had to remove photo shop completely, then down load again to resolve the problem.

hi, just having the same problem, can not see transform controls, with checking "show transform controls". Is there a solution for this problem. And when I type text, the blinking marker that indicates my position in the sentance is gone.

I am facing the same problem, using Photoshop CC19 on MacOS Mojave. I have uninstalled and re-installed Photoshop, but the problem persists. Would love to hear if you solve this.

I'm also getting this. Show Transform Controls box is checked, show Extras is checked. I've restarted photoshop. No luck.

Is everyone having same problem? is this due to an update? My show controls to resize an image or text box or whatever doesn't appear even if show transform controls are checked in and extras are checked in also. What is the problem???

Try the workaround here: Tools and on-canvas controls

Open an RGB document in Photoshop. The tools will now work correctly on all documents for the rest of the session. Repeat this workaround when you launch Photoshop again.

Let me know if that works for you. If so, you're seeing the issue here: https://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/photoshop-update-2019-20-0-i-have-no-text-cur... Please Me Too the topic to be updated when it's fixed.

Thats the most ridiculous thing! This problem has been giving me grief for weeks, and yes the RGB document trick works. Why the devil does Adobe go and fix things that arent broke????????????

I'm having the same problem, with any kind of layer/file. Transformation Controls not showing even though all the boxes are ticked.
I'm on Mac Mojave with the latest Photoshop CC 2019 installed.

I tried all of the following:
  • Ticking / Unticking / Ticking again Show Transformation Controls: didn't work
  • Ticking / Unticking / Ticking again Show Extra: didn't work
  • Opening an existing RGB document or new RGB document, first thing as soon as I start Photoshop: nothing
  • disabling OpenGL drawing in Photoshop's preferences: nothing
It's unbelievably frustrating to work without Transform Controls/Bounding boxes, the most I could do was to get Layers Edges to show (View > Show > Layer Edges), but that still doesn't help when trying to transform layers.

I am thinking to go back to CC 2018!

Open an RGB document in Photoshop and close it. The tools will now work correctly on all documents for the rest of the session. Repeat this workaround when you launch Photoshop again.

I have tried that as well, never worked.
I am now still on CC 2019 but back on upgrade 20.0.1, and the problem is gone.

I'll wait to see some feedback on this specific problem, which seems to be recurrent, before considering updating again.
