Which application are you using?
Which version?
Which OS version?

That sounds like an old bug in the video card drivers on Windows 8, which is solved by updating the video card drivers from the GPU maker's website.

Howdy Adel,

I'd love to help you out.  Unfortunately, while I understand that you're having trouble with the Type tool, I'm not at all following the steps you're performing to get there.  I'm going to ask you to perform the following test and let me know what happens for you:

1) close and relaunch Photoshop
2) click File > New and choose U.S. Paper for Document Type
3) click-and-hold your mouse on the Type tool
NOTE: you should see a little pop-out list of four different Type tools
4) choose the top Type tool -- Horizontal Type Tool
5) In the Options Bar, change the point size to 18 pt and the text color to black
6) click in the document and start typing

What happens?  You should see black text on a white background.

Also, are you running the French application?  Are you using a French OS and keyboard as well?

S'il est plus facile, vous pouvez répondre en français.

Merci,
David

OK, so that is definitely caused by the out of date video card drivers that shipped with Windows 8. Updating the driver from the GPU maker solves the issue.
