Photoshop: Freeze when selecting the Text tool (CS6/OSX)

I have upgraded my Photoshop CS5 Extended to the CS6 Extended and it is really disappointing! For some reason, my TEXT TOOL does not work! It freezes my work completely and does not respond!!! I have tried hundreds of times and every single time I need to Force Quit my work! When I need to use text, I go and use it on my older version! I really want this issue to be solved as let's face it we pay a price for a product that it is supposed to be "perfect" especially with a tool like "TEXT"... A BASIC TOOL!!!

That would seem to really be up to you as this is not an issue a lot of other users seem to have, possibly you have faulty fonts installed.
And as you do not even mention your OS it might be difficult to help you.

Boilerplate-text:
Are Photoshop and OS fully updated and have you performed the usual trouble-shooting routines (trashing prefs by keeping command-alt-shift/ctrl-alt-shift pressed while starting Photoshop after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences you’ve changed, 3rd party plug-ins deactivation, system maintenance, cleaning caches, font validation, etc.)?

Thank you for answering!
I am extremely thorough in all my updates on my computer.
I run the latest update of Photoshop CS6 on my updated OS X.
What I don't understand is that my CS5 works perfectly. I just updated to CS6.
So where the faulty font would come from?
I will try all your options about doing a thorough cleaning and I will let you know.
Thanks for your help though. Wishing you a lovely day!

Thank you Jeffrey! Will try it!
Otherwise, I was actually thinking of uninstalling CS6 and reinstalling it to see if this fixes the issue? What do you think? Wishing you a lovely day Jeffrey!

Try the steps in my document first. Uninstalling and installing is overkill.

ThanXXX everyone for helping me on this issue. After doing everything as per your explanations and all, I still had some problems. So, even though it is not recommended to uninstall and reinstall a program, I took the decision to do it and now, my problem is solved and CS6 is running smoothly! Thanks for all your suggestions! Wishing you a lovely weekend! :)
