Still no text kerning/spacing for PSE 10? Could we have it pretty please?? I still can't believe this hasn't made it into Photoshop Elements. It would complete the best consumer-level image editor out there.

Very frustrating omission. I was singing the praises of PSE 10 before but kerning is such a basic text tuning tool I'm really surprised. It feels a very cynical strategy on Adobe's part.

A limited workaround is to go into Preferences and in the Type section check "Show Asian Text Options" but this only allows 10 preset percentages to reduce character spacing. You can't expand.

@David: I found this excellent script somebody posted not so long ago on the Adobe forums:

http://forums.adobe.com/message/3972551

It allows you to increase or reduce the spacing between letters (provided you edit the script first).

It's not exactly ideal but at least it's something until Adobe can actually code this into the software itself. xD

Is this a joke? No Kerning in PSE Elements!! COME ON!! I use PS for creating invitations and other verious art print products. I currently run a very old version of Photoshop (version 7) but it gets the job done..for the most part. When I realized I coulnd't text on a path in PS7 I bought Elements 10 and was excited...until I realized I can't space out the characters or "kern" like I can in my old PS7. I can't believe this isnt a standard feature on this product. Now im up a creek for sure! I have NO need for a $800 CS photoshop product for what I use it for.. this is killingme

PSE desperately needs the ability to adjust the kerning and the tracking of text. When a large display font is used (for example, as the title on the cover of a card) the character hinting leaves a lot to be desired.

Why is there no kerning option on elements 10? I have several script fonts that I can't use because the spacing is much too far apart. It is ridiculous!

See the reply from 'lacobus' at the top of this thread. The script he provided the link for seems to be the best option available at the moment. It does work well but you must follow the instructions exactly.

Here's the link: (It's still live)

I follow everything in the directions except for the end where it says to re-run it? I don't know what that means. I res-ave with the new numeric after the equal sign and then?
Sorry. I am not computer literate. I am a total novice. TIA for the help.

Did PSE 11 get kerning/spacing? I don't remember seeing that on their "new features" list.
