Text not horizontal scale not appearing 100% width - It's not square pixels and happens with every font

Since the last update to Photoshop CC 2017 the proportions of all fonts seems to be off by a considerable margin when rendered on a canvas. At first I thought it might have been a miss-set horizontal scale. Nope wasn't that. Then I thought it might have the been Pixel aspect ratio. Nope not that. And it happens in any document where text layers are created. See attached images.
So right now adding text to any work in Photoshop is out. Very very frustrating. Over to illustrator...sigh

Hi Benji,

What OS version are you using?  Do you have any unusual monitor or video card settings?  I agree that the display of your text looks off -- tall and thin -- but I cannot reproduce this on either platform, nor have I heard any similar reports from other users.  Do you want to post your Sys Info in case there's a clue in there?
