Lightroom Classic 8: Tethering Crashes in latest update

After updating my Lightroom Classic CC last week the tethering function now causes the program to crash.
In the newest update I'm able to set up tethering no problem but as soon as I release the shutter it becomes unresponsive and prompts me with the choice of closing the program or waiting for it to become responsive again. I have tried both. 
I tried reverting back to the previous version before the update but now the photos no long transfer. I get a grey cube that never "develops" into the photo.
I have checked and my camera is still compatible as is my cord. I've tried a full uninstall and reinstall, and a slew of other things. 

As for now it just seems as though I will have to wait for the next update and pray it works.

Hi Alex,

Which camera model and settings are you using?
Did you try clearing preferences? If not, can you try and let us know.

Also, Can you share System Info [ Lightroom Classic -> Help -> System Info].

Are you using Tether Capture (Canon) which is a new addition or Tether Capture (Nikon & Other) which is legacy.

I would have submitted crash reports if I was prompted. I was never given the pop-up dialogue option to send a report. I followed the instructions on the link you provided to make sure it always shows the prompt but even after several tries I am still not getting the option to submit the crash log.

In Lightroom Classic 7.5, we are not aware of the issue that you mentioned. (I assume you installed that version after facing the issue in Lightroom Classic 8.0)
In Lightroom Classic 8.0, please let us know which tether option you used (for Canon or Nikon & Others.)

Yes, I reverted back to Classic 7.5 so that I would be able to use the tether, only to find it was now no longer working as it was for me previously.
In 8 I am using the Canon tether option, as I shoot with a Canon Rebel T5i.

Alex, can you confirm whether you have reset your preferences in 8.0 (not 7.5)?  Did that fix the issue?

Reset Procedure:

1. Close Lightroom.
2. Hold down [Alt/Opt]+[Shift] while restarting Lightroom. 
3. Overwrite the Preferences when prompted by the dialog.
4. Close Lightroom.
5. Restart Lightroom.
