Tech Support's Recommended Mode of Operating LR6 Compromises Security

Adobe Tech Support recommended that I run Photoshop Lightroom 6.14 from a Windows 10 Administrator account to avoid further problems with the program refusing to start (immediate "Assertion failure" error on startup).
Security specialists have advised against running normal productivity applications from administrator accounts because of the increased power given to anyone who hacks into a PC while it is being used by an administrator (for example, when an email message containing malware is opened). Please find a way for your application to be reliably run from a Limited account the way that all other productivity applications I have encountered can do (e.g. MS Office, Firefox, Google apps, etc.). Thank you.

To set expectations Richard, Lightroom 6 is no longer being sold, nor is it being updated, so nothing will change on Lightroom 6. I'll leave the thread open as it may apply to Lightroom Classic though.

It is likely, Richard, that this speaks more to a potential issue with your Windows User Account than with the old version of Lightroom (6.14).  A good test would be to create a new non-admin account and see if Lightroom will operate as-expected. If it does, then the problem is likely with your older non-admin account.

In any case, as Victoria explains, 6.14 will receive no further updates.
