LIGHTROOM - Tag multiple photos from filmstip

I'm pretty new to lightroom. I was happily applying tags to multiple photos at a time and everything was working great. Then for some unknown reason I stopped being able to apply tags to multiple photos as a time - instead only the first photo would get the tag. I restarted Lightroom wondering if it had gotten stuck with a bug.. no luck.

Figured out after a few minutes that I was trying to select multiple photos from the filmstrip and apply tags - apparently you can only select multiple from the gridview. This isn't clear at all, and I was a little frustrated when something I knew worked (tagging multiple photos at a time) just stopped working.

It's a safety feature in case you don't realize you have multiple photos selected in the filmstrip (they could be selected further along or the filmstrip could be hidden). If you'd prefer it to always apply to all selected photos (at your risk), go to Metadata menu > Enable Auto Sync.

I was about to report this as a problem as well, when I found this post. I must say, the reason for not applying a keyword to multiple photos in the filmstrip does not make any sense to me. The exact same situation can occur when in grid view, but there tagging multiple photos is not a problem at all. It's a good thing it is possible to override this "feature"
