Lightroom: Syncing photos across from my Mac to my Mac Book Pro is painfully slow

I recently purchased LR CC. I successfully loaded nearly 4k RAW photos onto my Mac but the syncing to my Mac Book Pro appears to be stuck as its only syncing a few photos over an evening. Is there a way to speed up the syncing so I can view my photos on either my Mac and Mac book pro and edit them across both.

Jon,

On the first computer has syncing completed from the device to the cloud or is it partially complete?

Trying to keep the names of your computers straight here....

Imported 4000 raw images on to your Mac Desktop
Set to Sync
>3000 photos remaining to be synced.

Mac laptop is set to sync
Has synced how many files?
Says it is up to date.

Do I have that correct?

Has your Mac desktop been restarted recently or at least since you started syncing? If not, restart it.
Depending upon your internet connection you should pause syncing on the Mac laptop while syncing the Mac Desktop on such a large bundle. When you have few images or just adjustments syncing, you can have them both syncing at the same time but performance will suffer if you try to send thousands with both syncs active.

Hi Rikk
Thanks you are correct. My Mac desk top has about 4k photos to sync its going slowly. My Mac lap top ( Mac book pro) is synced and up to date. I had loaded some photos direct on to my laptop but the bulk were on to my Desktop. I have now paused the sync on my lap top as you suggest . The Mac desk top is still syncing very slowly is there anything else I can do?

Each photo is a raw file about 30MB. I accept my internet service is not the fastest around 18-20MBS download upload is about 1-2 MBS, is there anything else I can do because if my maths is right even at what appears to be a slow upload my pictures are not uploading at this speed.?

Jon,

If you pause syncing and go to www.speedtest.net what is your upload speed?
