Lightroom Classic CC: Synced collection missing photos?

I created a new collection, made sure I had smart previews generated for all 40 photos in the collection, and synced the collection. Two of the photos show as gray blanks although ratings, title, comments all come through. I have erased the collection and recreated it, but the same 2 photos have the same gray blank box...both on the website and on my synced devices. The photos themselves are not missing in Lightroom. How do I fix this? Is it a bug? It has happened upon occasion before, but this is my first time reporting it. https://adobe.ly/2KomUfC

Try selecting those two images in LR, then go to All  Synced Photos, and hit delete. This removes them from Adobe's server (which erasing the collection may not have done). Add them to the collection again, and see if they sync  normally.

Is there anything unusual about the two images?

Thank you. I tried your suggestion but it did not work. I double-checked by accessing the online gallery to be sure they had disappeared before I added them back in again. There is nothing unusual that I know about these 2 images. All 40 in the collection are PSDs. I thought size could be an issue, but there are larger files both in image dimensions and MBs that are showing up with no problem.

So you definitely deleted the two files from All Synced Photos? That's a key step, before you add them to the collection again.

With these two images, can you try editing them in PS using Edit With's "as original" option  and save as TIF (so you can PSD and TIF versions). Then see if these TIF files will sync. Is there anything like CMYK colour mode, Duotone mode?

Yes I deleted from All Synced Photos in LR on my desktop. Color space for both is ProPhoto (as are all my photos). Not sure what Duotone mode is so I don't think so. I follow the same procedure with all my edited photos from LR to PS and then saved back again as PSDs. Following your instructions, the TIF files did sync, but the PSDs still will not, even though I deleted (from All Synced Photos) and re-added them again. Usually I save PSDs with Layers unless they are too big, but I deleted the Layers for the TIFs.

After the TIF experiment, I followed the same procedure and saved them as PSDs (Save As - with a new file name). Those PSDs are syncing fine. Something must have been wrong with the previous files although I don't know what as they are behaving normally in my Lightroom catalog.
Thank you for your help. Next time this happens I'll resave my PSDs.

Does it still says Syncing 2 photos in the identity plate? Is there any entry in the All Sync Errors ? Also can you see the state of the sync preferences ?

The original problem 2 photos, having been deleted, reprocessed in Photoshop, and re-saved to LR, now show up as black (instead of gray) squares in the thumbnail grid view, but the photo opens correctly when tapped on to open. That is on my iPhone X. However they show up fine on my iPad in thumbnail view as well. Also they show up on the web gallery. I stopped worrying about it, but last night I created a new shared collection of all new PSDs, and one of those is showing up as a gray square on both iPhone and iPad. So it is an ongoing issue. Also shows up as grayed out on the web. I do not see any sync errors in All Synced Photographs. Identity plate seems to thing all items are synced. I put all 3 of the offending files in a collection of their own at this link along with a screenshot of how they appear on my iPhone X: https://adobe.ly/2OKVeVI
