Really Victoria!!! Are you a bot or have you not seen posts for a year and a half of menus disappearing! You are either being paid as a "Champion" ha! or you are a very naive newbie getting paid by how many posts you put on here because as I have , many others also have been fighting this issue for way to long!n I am a pro commercial photographer who has loved LR until; last year when all this started happening! Many pro photog friends laugh and tell me to jump and go with Capture One. Very close! I hate paying for a program on a monthly basis and as I open it up the menus disappear! I have seen you on this thread or other threads about this, so I know you know about it! So don't give me the "oh my, really?" response to an issue well documented here!

She's one of the most knowledgeable Lightroom users around,  who does her best to be here answering our questions daily. So while I do understand your extreme frustration—I've been there myself on occasion, though usually due to Bridge's behavior—I think it would help us all if you don't yell at people, smearing them personally, when all they ask for is to have more technical information about your OS, your workflow when the menus disappear, etc.

I've seen issues that were resolved for most people with an update, but not fully resolved for everyone because there's some other component that wasn't found until people gave Adobe enough specific information to find the problem. You may most unfortunately fall into that category. I do know that while not a heavy LR user, I've never seen the menus disappear, so if it's terribly common, it still isn't affecting everyone. There's something triggering it.

Oh I wish I was a bot at times Randy. Unfortunately I only have a human memory, and occasionally I lose track of bug reports from a year and a half ago, because my head is full tracking the most widely reported issues. If you have a link to the issue, I'll be pleased to see what I can find out.

(And to be clear, I'm not paid for the many hours I spend here every week. Christen, thanks for the support.)

Ahhhhhhh, I've just found your recent replies. It's the black panels bug. That one I am aware of. Calling it disappearing menus didn't ring a bell compared to, you know, the entire interface going black! ;-)

I'm a little confused though, why, as a working professional, you'd still be hanging onto an old operating system when it's causing you such headaches. Sierra and High Sierra are supported on all machines built since 2010, and I can't imagine that as a busy working professional, you'd be working on a 7+ year old unsupported machine.

Adobe have done a lot of work with Apple to create a fix for that issue, and if the bug is making it unusable for you and there's an easy solution, why would you not upgrade to access that solution?

Capture One is laughing so hard. It's interface needs a little time to get used to, but if they supported all my lenses I would probably choose them over this earthquake.
