Photoshop: Subscription hardship for individual photographers

Your Creative Cloud subscription scheme may be ideal for companies or other multiple user situations, but for me, a single photographer living on a fixed income, it's a real problem. My wife and I survive by eliminating every monthly payment possible, so your new CC rental structure poses a real hardship.

I've loved using Photoshop for many years (since version 7), and have always upgraded to the latest version until now. I'm sorry to say that I will find an alternative product rather than upgrade from CS6 to the Photoshop CC rental model that has replaced it.

Hi Roger,

Are you aware of the CC Photograph plan?:

https://creative.adobe.com/plans/offe...

I do see that you upgrade every version and you own Lightroom as well, so thank you.

This plan was designed for customers like you.

You get Photoshop, Lightroom and Lightroom mobile for $9.99/mo or $119.99 a year.

In the past, we've released new versions of Photoshop and Lightroom every 18 months @ $199.99 & $79 respectively.

It's actually cheaper to stay current with the Creative Cloud Photography plan. (~$30 less expensive over the course of 3 years accounting for just Photoshop and over $200 cheaper if you account for Lightroom as well)

I resisted the monthly subscription plan for more than a year. I thought Photoshop CS6 was plenty and saw no need to spend $9.99/month for the upgrade. Since my wife and I are both retired and on a fixed income I decided it would be easier to budget the monthly fee rather than to come up with the price of the next Lightroom upgrade. Now that I'm using the Creative Cloud photography package and have started using the new tools I have decided that it truly is an excellent value.

Agreed; it is less than the cost of a pint of beer a week!
