Photoshop: Styles - can we default to not showing them expanded in the layers palette?

When applying a style, there is no need to show all the details in the layers panel, I mean it takes a bunch of space and I always have to close each one of them to see clear.

Look under the panel options for the layers panel.

In the menu on the layers panel (top right button), select Panel Options...

Near the bottom of the dialog is a checkbox for "Expand New Effects". You want to turn it off.
