I just downloaded the 7 day trial of CC. I was loading an animation that gave me an error that says something about "select" wasn't an option. In either case, just after that I closed the project I was working on. And now every time I open a photo this map looking thing, which looks like when I was quick selecting a photo before, now comes up. I can't get rid of it. I restarted the program and my computer

In my humble opinion, this may be the wrong brush is selected. What I am seeing, appears to be a custom brush. Right click on your document and you would see the brush panel where you can scroll up or down to select another brush. If it keeps reverting to this everytime you quit and reopen Photoshop, then you would need to go to the brush preset manager and drag the round brush to the end of the list.

Omg, I love you! Thank you :) What a silly thing for me to oversight. I've just never seen a brush actually show its shape on screen in other software. Thank you so much Jerry!

Hehe. Not a problem at all :-).. I remembered pulling my hair out once over it. In case it reverts to the map looking thing when you re-open Photoshop, follow the direction on the screen shot to get to the preset manager where you can click and drag your desired brush to the end. If you get stuck, let me know ;)
