A comment was made about this on an idea already:
http://feedback.photoshop.com/photosh...

Basically, about half the time when I select multiple items in an artboard by clicking and dragging a marquee around the items I want to select, it will select all of the items I want, but it will also select the artboard itself, making the auto-select feature completely worthless.

I find a workaround, just create a Fill Layer and lock it at the base of your artboard. You won't be able to select the Artboard anymore with auto-select and dragging ;)

Good workaround Margot! One remark: create a empty layer and lock it at the bottom. When you create a fill layer you're still selecting that layer by using [alt] + drag. This is prevented by using a empty layer.

Just found a way that works. Right next to auto select there is another drop down that says layer or group.. Make sure that "layer" is selected and then you can move only the layers that you need not the whole art board.

I've always had that selected, but it doesn't fix it for me. I think you might be misunderstanding the issue.

Same problem for me. I would normaly locked artboard position but it is bugged. If you lock arboard you can do everything except layer paths editing.

Yes i know. Also the editing of smartobjects is not working with this method. Believe me. I tried it all.

Thanks Adobe!
