Photoshop: Spline Lasso / Layer History

I think Photoshop should have a Spline Lasso command in order to create and follow smooth curves. The regular lasso tool doesn't achieve the right smoothness and creates awkward angles and, frankly, magnetic lasso is a huge pain and never seems to select what I want it to select, plus it doesn't work for drawing a curve from scratch. Also would love the ability to zoom in and out while using any of the lasso tools. When tracing a larger image, I would like the freedom to zoom in to get details accurately and zoom back out so I can trace larger sections without losing my place.Would be fantastic if there was a feature that would save individual histories for each layer so if you wanted to go back a ways without undoing a whole lot of other commands, you would be able to select the specific layer and the history related to that layer alone.

Yes! A way of saving layers at least, while being able to go back in history, would make for less files. I use layers to group different kinds of information, so the actions I do are somewhat independent layer to layer, at times!
