Spell Check Stays In Italian

Spell checker only checks for misspellings in Italian. When the dialogue box is changed to any other language, the next spell check will revert the setting back to Italian. I was told to report this here. I'm using CC 20.0.6 on an iMac running macOS Mojave 10.14.5. I've reset the preferences and reinstalled Photoshop but the problem persists.

Howdy Mike,

It sounds like your text might be tagged to be Italian.  You see, Photoshop allows the user to put different runs of text in different languages, so that hypentation, spell-check, line-wrap, etc behave according to the appropriate conventions.  To change, simply select the text or the whole text layer and choose a different language from the dropdown list:

Give it a try.  If your problem persists, let's talk more.

Thanks,
David

I've tried that several times. I've been having a conversation about it HERE. I've taken several suggestions and none of them have worked. I'd appreciate anything else you can think of.

Wow, Mike, you've got a good one there!

If you've got time, I'm happy to do a live, web-hosted screen-share with you to get to the bottom of this.  Simply ping me here and I'll follow up with you.

I am NOT seeing this on any of my machines here, running a number of different versions of Photoshop.  You are running the latest English PS on an English OS, correct?  Have you ever switched into the Italian UI version of Photoshop?  Have you been having this problem with all documents you spell-check?  Were you ever in our prerelease program or used a developmental build?  Do you use Illustrator?  Have you installed that in Italian?  Could you be running under a user with limited rights?

Okay, I've got these questions and more.  But let's start with these.

Thanks,
David
