Specific paper ICC profiles missing in Photoshop CC2014 but are present in CS5.1

Why do icc profiles that I added to Color Sync for Epson 3800 not show up in the Photoshop CC2014 print module? They are present in CS 5.1. Profiles were added and then the application started. CC2014 only shows generic profiles and not those I added that are specific to a paper type. I have no problem printing out of CS5.1 with the profiles I added but can not do this with CC2014

They could have the wrong colorspace (ie: CMYK profiles will not be shown for an RGB printer), or they could be defective (and the newer Photoshop recognizes this).

The icc profiles from the paper manufacturer that I was using were replaced with their newest profiles and this seems to solve the problem! The old profiles must be "defective" in the sense that they don't work with the newer photoshop CC2014 application although they do work with CS 5.1. Thanks so much for the help.

No, they would be "defective" in that they were the wrong color mode for the printer, or the structure of the files was bad.
