Lightroom: Ability to sort catalog by long edge pixel dimension

I'd love to be able to sort by "long edge pixel dimension". A pretty simple addition I would think. A Plug-In even?

It'd be tricky for a plugin to maintain the sort order after closing the plugin's dialog box, since there is no API to support it - not necessarily impossible, but I wouldn't know how, at least not without kyping the label text or hacking the user order...

One thing you can do now is to use DevMeta which supports crop-width & crop-height metadata for lib filters. You can't sort by long-edge pixel dimension, but you can filter by crop width and/or crop height - may be next best thing for now...

I might try some of those.

It just seems weird that LR's sister program Bridge can do it!

I wouldn't consider Bridge and Lightroom to be sister programs. The former is a file browser a la Windows Explorer or Mac Finder. The latter is a catalog based database. Sure, there is a lot of overlapping functionality, but they run under very different philosophies.

But it is somewhat surprising to find that LR lacks a type of organizational capability that Bridge has.
