I'm on Classic CC v7.5, Mac Pro and using an NEC PA272W display with SpectraView II. I found that if I don't even use soft proofing and I look at a print in my Just Normlicht 5000°k viewing booth with the dimmer dialed down to match my screen brightness that I get a VERY close display to print match. I make custom ICC paper profiles for my Epson 9900 with the X-Rite i1Photo Pro 2.
So my question is if I'm already dialing down my display's contrast ratio to get a close match to print, which didn't even look close with a 350:1 display ratio and soft proofing turned on, is the soft proofing option even a necessary component? Am I missing something in the workflow that would get me even closer?
TIA
