I'am deeply saddened that I finally get Photoshop Elements 10 as a birthday gift and it crashes all the time. I have waited so long to have a good editing program and researched programs and decided on this one. My husband surprised me for my birthday and since I have have got it it has crashed a lot of times losing all my work. It so frustrating to start from the beginning over and over. I hope you find a fix for this problem.

What OS version?

When does it crash?

Have you installed all the updates?

Does it crash when using the Organizer, the Editor, or both? And is it a Freeze (when the application stops responding but stays on screen) or is it a crash (when the application closes unexpectedly)? Are there any error messages?

It crashes in Editor. The screen freezes and won't let you do anything. You can look at your work and cannot save it. I end up force closing because I can't do anything else. So frustrating!

A freeze and a crash are 2 very different things. And a whole system freeze means something else entirely (bad hardware).

A crash would give you a dialog and a chance to report the crash. Unfortunately an application freeze usually doesn't give us much information, unless we know more about how you got there. When it gets into a frozen state, you can sample the application from the Activity Monitor (or SpinControl, Shark, or Instruments) -- that would provide us with some information and where it hung up.

But first some questions: have you had another display hooked up recently? (the OS might think it's still there and open dialogs on the other display that you can't see)

Have you tried resetting preferences?

Do you have any third party plugins installed?

Do you have any haxies (system modification utilities) installed?
