Lightroom: Smart collections for images with out-of-date metadata

See http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Lightroom... for background.

I want to be able to create a smart collection of "every file whose metadata is out of date" in Lightroom and "every file whose metadata is out of sync". These would be (a) files whose metadata were changed outside of Lightroom and (b) files whose metadata were changed outside of Lightroom and inside of Lightroom, that I need to synchronize manually.

Of course, if LIghtroom had an option for automatically reading metadata changes, it would obviate the need for the first, but I would still need the second when I accidentally edit a file both inside and outside Lightroom.

The user interface for this addition would be easy—just add another field in the filter panel (like you have for "is georeferenced").

Great idea. I'd similarly like to be able to create a smart collection for damaged files and missing files - to automate recovery. Not an everyday use feature, but when something goes wrong with a disk or a catalogue, this would be a very helpful way of getting to the bottom of it.

LR 4 metadata has implemented this as the "Metadata Status" criterion in Smart Collections.

Also, in LR 3, the command Library > Find Missing Photos filters for missing files.
