Photoshop Elements 10: Smart Brush "fluorescent chalk" crash

In Elements 10, when I try to use the Smart Brush feature called "Fluorescent Chalk", the program shuts down entirely, every time, regardless of photo subject. I have rebooted my computer, rebooted Elements 10 and done everything reasonably possible to get this to work. I am using Windows 7 on a fairly new PC with no other programs open at the time. 3GHZ processor, i7 type. It seems that all other functions of Smart Brush work okay. I tried to contact your Australian technical support desk 4 times, but was never able to get through during their normal business hours. I can find nothing about this in FAQs.
