Smart Objects- Able to save edits in both Photoshop and Illustrator

Right now you can import vectors into Photoshop as a smart object and edit it in illustrator and changes will appear in Photoshop which is awesome. However, if I make changes to that smart object in photoshop such as it's size to keep this simple there is no way to export those changes back to illustrator and have the new size reflected to the file we imported. Maybe this exists but I just spent and our with an Adobe tech but was told this feature does not exist as of yet.

Only way I know to accomplish something like this would be to place the illustrator file as a linked object in photoshop, then change the actual file in illustrator until it looks good in the photoshop doc... When you resize a smart object, it's not actually *changing* the underlying object, just taking a snapshot and resizing that...
