Photoshop: Smart Filter Gaussian Blur/Blending Options Creating Halo

I created a Smart Object containing white text on a transparent background. The Smart Object has a .5 px  Gaussian Blur applied as a Smart Filter. The blending options of the Smart Filter are set to Mode: normal, Opacity: 40%. If I edit the contents of the Smart Object (for example, change the position of the text) the Smart Object creates a dark halo around the text when it updates. If I edit the Smart Filter's blending options to reapply the same settings the halo disappears. It's a major drag to have to reapply the blending options anytime I update my smart object. Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Jeremy

Thanks for the steps to reproduce. I've logged an issue for an engineer to investigate.
