SMART COLLECTIONS-You should be able to create a smart collection, for instance to see rejected photos prior to deletion, or which photos, don't have GPS data, or which are colored red, blue, etc-whatever you want-AND it should then become incorporated in all other LR CATALOGS and any new LR Catalogs that you create, the same way that PRESETS are common among all LR Catalogs.

Do you know that you can export a smart-collection definition from one catalog and import into another? This isn't nearly as convenient as what you're proposing, but it does let you share smart-collection definitions between catalogs.

Thanks, BUT it only lets you do that one Smart item at a time, not the whole set...I could spend a day doing that one item at a time...ADOBE-think about my original idea...I'll bet people would start using Smart Collections more if they were able to have the same Smart Collection set they created among all their catalogs.

I like the idea, Lynn but I would prefer being able to set a collection to be either one-off collections or across catalogs collections. I wouldn't want all smart collections to be cross catalog as some of the simple small catalogs I use for special purposes wouldn't benefit from them. As a person who recommends and maintains a personal workflow of a single catalog, I probably wouldn't use it much.

I could see in a many-catalog workflow where it would be handy.

By the same token you probably have a bunch of presets that you don't use often or across all catalogs, BUT they are still there. Better to have a MASTER set of Smart Collections (some of which don't apply to that collection) than have to export and import them (or create them) in each catalog you create as needed (a real time saver).
