Camera Raw: Slow ACR performance in CS6 on new iMac

Hi. I have a latest gen iMac with the following specs;

27" 3.4GHz Intel Core i7
RAM 20GB 1333MHz DDR 3
AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB
MAC OS X Lion 10.7.4
64 bit CS6 installed on SSD. Same SSD is selected as scratch disk.

Files are 36MP Nikon D800 RAW files. Use full screen in ACR.

Upgraded from CS 5.1 to CS 6 and see degraded performance when working in ACR. It quickly becomes very slow at painting in effects and panning / zooming is also lagging to the point where it becomes intolerable.

Unsure if performance settings in photoshop affects ACR from Bridge, but settings are Cache Levels 5 and Cache Tile Size 1024K. Use Graphics Processor is checked.

Any help is appreciated.

Why doesn't Adobe address the problems with Camera Raw in CS6? I've contacted support, done all updates, read all the forums, all the tips and done all the tweaks but the problem remains, and lot of other people are seeing the same issue. To do a single paint brush of let's say exposure, takes much longer in CS6 ACR than in CS5 (on the same machine). Pile on more adjustments and it slows down to where it is almost unusable. I have a new and maxed out iMac with plenty of RAM, a 2GB graphics card and a SSD as a scratch disk. There should not be any issues with this...
