What OS are you running?

What settings do you have in the tool options bar?

I'm running OSX 10.8.2 on a 2.6Ghz i7 Macbook Pro 16GB RAM, Photoshop Extended CS6 version 13.0.4 X64

the tool is used as is, Auto Enhance is enabled

and no idea where this is coming from.

Does it perform as expected with "Auto Enhance" unchecked?

I found this in a forum and worked perfectly:

I oversaw the amount of RAM appointed to Ps and I recollected, that I had changed this setting in Ps CC the day before. Because I have 24 Gig of RAM, I put up the slider there to the max Ps recommends. (i.e. appr. 15 Gig). I put the slider back a little (appr. 13 Gig) and everything worked fine again ...

It worked for me!!! Hope it works for you!

I cannot figure out why my quick selection tool is running so slowly. I've optimized my computer and it is still running so slowly it has become unusable. :( I have a Mac running Yosemite 10.10.2, and I use Photoshop CC. It was fine about a month ago. Can anyone help me?
